SOME KIND WORDS FROM A FEW OF OUR SCHOOLS

LUCIE DAWN, HEADTEACHER

Willow Brook Primary, Leyton

Thank you so much for the session on Thursday. Words cannot express how much I enjoyed it. As a head teacher I participate in lots of training and listen to lots of keynote speakers. I learn lots from those sessions and take away tips but your training was different.

I left feeling truly inspired. A feeling I haven’t felt for a long time in education. You opened my eyes to something new and I truly was in awe. I have been talking about it non stop.

Not only did you enable me to see Billy’s abilities and strengths but you taught me to see the world through his eyes. You taught me to understand Billy.

I began to look at him as a being and began to understand his behaviour and reactions. I learned to hold his character at the heart of everything.

When you took him into Year 1 you created an environment of respect for Billy. I really admire that.  The children behaved so beautifully. In that moment you taught them to take care of him and to respect his needs.

Thank you so much!

DAVID ABBISS, HEADTEACHER

Brandhall Primary School, Oldbury

Brandhall Primary School would highly recommend ‘The Dog Mentor’ programme to any school who is considering having a school dog.

Jenny has had an amazing impact on our school, helping us to understand how to promote positive behaviour for Lolley (our school dog) as well as directing us on the best way to use a dog in school.  Jenny is an unbelievable dog trainer but it is also great that she has such an in-depth knowledge of schools and the importance of evidencing impact.

Lolley really benefitted from the training day and we were amazed at how many tricks she could do but perhaps even more importantly Jenny has been there for us with support and guidance whenever we have needed her.

Having a school dog can be a bit of a whirlwind but by following Jenny’s advice, it has been an overwhelmingly positive experience for our school so far.

JUDITH EDWARDS, HEADTEACHER

Abercanaid Community School, Merthyr Tydfil.

I have to say Jenny, this was the best training I’ve had in absolute ages. I knew Bella would have benefits for our school, but I didn’t realise how much a positive impact she would bring. We absolutely love her. Diolch yn fawr!

RICHARD GARTLAND, HEADTEACHER

Springfield Academy, Darlington.

Just a very quick message to say a big thank you very much for today. I was extremely impressed with your knowledge, your professionalism and quite simply your niceness! It was an absolute pleasure working with you.

Charlie is exhausted, bless him, but me, Jo and my kids are very proud of him! I’m excited about him working in my school with Danni.

CHARLES APPLEGATE, HEADTEACHER

St Mark's C of E Primary School, Basingstoke.

We feel so much more confident in knowing how to best to use Simba to support our children, as well as to keep him safe and happy. I highly recommend The Dog Mentor team for any school thinking about getting a dog. The service, communication, resources and general support have been amazing.

BECKY ROSE

The Beacon School, Folkestone, Kent.

Having had Coco trained through The Dog Mentor programme has made such an incredible difference to so many children during this tough time of Covid-19.

Seeing Coco and seeing pictures of her through Zoom has cheered them up and given them hope. She has kept them connected and encouraged them to go outside into nature to boost their mood and mental health.

The impact of one dog has been phenominal. Thankyou Jenny!
