It's research time!
Our collaboration with the University of Lincoln
The Dog Mentor is embarking on an exciting new research project with the University of Lincoln to explore how school dogs enhance educational, social, emotional, and therapeutic outcomes for children. The study is aiming to provide evidence-based insights into how canine companions can support student well-being and development.
You had me at hello
The Dog Mentor Programme has built upon the benefits of the human-animal bond by providing children positive experiences with dogs that can help them educationally, developmentally,
emotionally and socially. The aim of The Dog Mentor is to create a completely universal offering in your environment for not only social, emotional and mental health well being but also covers all aspects of curriculum based education in order to improve educational outcomes.

Since 2012, implementation of The Dog Mentor Programme in Primary and Secondary schools across the UK has proven to have significant impact on many children’s lives.

These positive impacts follow the premise that improving communication within schools will improve behaviour.

If you are thinking about taking your dog into your working environment and achieving greater outcomes for all of your pupils, you have come to the right place!

The Dog Mentor Programme has been implemented in over 550 schools all over the UK with over 1400 education professionals having been trained. More importantly, there are now more than 650 Dog Mentor dogs working in school every day.

THE DOG MENTOR PROGRAMME
Introducing your dog into school
Bringing a dog into your school is a significant commitment which should be carefully understood and planned. At the heart of the safety and success of the programme will be a clear focus on the wellbeing of the dog.

The Dog Mentor Programme will provide the necessary training, guidance and support to embed this programme in your school.

After a full dog assessment and one day course, you and your team will get access to our SharePoint Resources site along with full support from a member of our team for one year. The SharePoint contains parental consent letter templates, pupil exercises, dog training tools and lots more!

In the cost of the course, we supply a full risk assessment for your school, teacher resources, ten Dog Mentor pupil booklets, collar, lead and printed coat for your dog.
