The Dog Mentor Programme has built upon the benefits of the human-animal bond by providing children positive experiences with dogs that can help them educationally, developmentally,
emotionally and socially.
Over the past 8 years, implementation of The Dog Mentor Programme in Primary and Secondary schools across the UK has proven to have significant impact on many children’s lives.
These positive impacts follow the premise that improving communication within schools will improve behaviour.
If you are thinking about taking your dog into school and achieving greater outcomes for all of your pupils, you have come to the right place!
The Dog Mentor Programme has been implemented in over 90 schools in the last two years alone. There are now more than 120 Dog Mentor dogs working in school every day.

THE DOG MENTOR PROGRAMME
Introducing your dog into school
Bringing a dog into your school is a significant commitment which should be carefully understood and planned. At the heart of the safety and success of the programme will be a clear focus on the wellbeing of the dog.
The Dog Mentor Programme will provide the necessary training, guidance and support to embed this programme in your school.
After a full dog assessment and one day course, you and your team will get access to our SharePoint Resources site along with full support from a member of our team for one year. The SharePoint contains parental consent letter templates, pupil exercises, dog training tools and lots more!
In the cost of the course, we supply a full risk assessment for your school, teacher resources, ten Dog Mentor pupil booklets, collar, lead and printed coat for your dog.
A FEW WORDS FROM OUR SCHOOLS
Brandhall Primary School would highly recommend ‘The Dog Mentor’ programme to any school who is considering having a school dog.
Jenny has had an amazing impact on our school, helping us to understand how to promote positive behaviour for Lolley (our school dog) as well as directing us on the best way to use a dog in school. Jenny is an unbelievable dog trainer but it is also great that she has such an in-depth knowledge of schools and the importance of evidencing impact.
Lolley really benefitted from the training day and we were amazed at how many tricks she could do but perhaps even more importantly Jenny has been there for us with support and guidance whenever we have needed her.
Having a school dog can be a bit of a whirlwind but by following Jenny’s advice, it has been an overwhelmingly positive experience for our school so far.
