Meet the newest Dog Mentor team at Newsome Academy!

🐾 Welcome Neira to Newsome Academy! 🐾

Today I was at Newsome Academy in Huddersfield to welcome their newest Dog Mentor, the absolutely perfect Neira! 🐶🧡

Newsome joined the programme back in 2021, and Neira is now their third Dog Mentor — a real testament to the school’s continued belief in the power of dogs to support emotional wellbeing and learning.

Neira is supported by her lovely owner Catherine and fantastic handler Jill, and she’s already settled in beautifully. Calm, gentle and completely in tune with her surroundings — she’s everything we could hope for in a Dog Mentor.

It’s so inspiring to see schools like Newsome building long-term, sustainable support for their pupils through their growing team of dogs.
