🧡 Published — A Huge Milestone for The Dog Mentor 🧡
I’m incredibly proud to share that the research we’ve been working on with the team at the University of Lincoln has now been published in a special edition of the Behavioural Sciences Journal. The special issue is titled “Animal-Assisted Interventions for Neurodivergent Individuals: Advancing Research, Practice, and Well-Being” and to see The Dog Mentor represented in this space is a very special moment.
This has been over a year in progress and it builds upon the truly amazing work that our Dog Mentor schools achieve every single day. What happens in schools across the UK is what makes research like this possible. The lived experience, the commitment, the embedding of the principles and the care shown to young people all sit at the heart of this publication.
A huge thank you to Dr. Mirena Dimolareva, Ella Doolan-Dransfield, Dr. Victoria L Brelsford, Prof. Kerstin Meints and Prof. Nancy R Gee for their help, support and guidance throughout and for pulling the paper together with such professionalism and dedication. I’m so grateful to have worked alongside you.
Thank you to the whole Dog Mentor team who continue to champion the programme with integrity and passion.
And the biggest thank you must go to the hundreds of settings across the UK who have embraced everything that makes The Dog Mentor so special. Not only do they transform the lives of countless young people and do an incredible job of safeguarding and prioritising the wellbeing of their fantastic Dog Mentors to make truly wonderful companionships in education. This publication belongs to you as much as anyone. 🧡
